We are moving, yeah, that is not fun, but we are not under a deadline so that makes it a bit easier. I know that we need to get rid of crap. The stuff that builds up as you live. I know this is a fastball over the plate, but wow do I need to do the same thing in my life. If I have not used it in years, is it time to let it go. Is it time to say enough is enough. What am i dragging around that needs to go away. Pray for us as we spring clean through the move. Pray that you will do the same thing.

The Boys started school today! That is not odd in itself. What is weird is that it finally just today feels as if we are back. Up until today, it has not felt like we were anywhere. So it is weird how routine makes things seem normal. What does this mean for me? I really do not know. But at least it feels different.

Logos is based off the Libronix library engine. Which is FREE. You then have to buy the modules that you want from Logos. If you are serious about studying the bible, this is a great place to start. And if you are serious about studying the bible respond I have some ideas I would like to discuss.

Amazing Trip!

This trip was great. We had it all! Rain, Mud, Sun, Heat, Wind and well you get the picture. We really were blessed with a great crew that worked together to make a wonderful home for our family. We made what they call a double wide which is two Amor house pushed together. There was very little room to work once the building was put up. I am very proud of everyone. We are sorry for the injury to Jeff Price who blew out his knee on day one. Although Jeff came injured we never thought he would have this devastating of an injury. Pray for him as he begins the long healing process. Thanks also to Fred who drove Jeff home the 10 hours so he could get to his dr. If you see one these people who went give them a little extra love.

Bruises, Cuts and turning 40

I turned 40 in Mexico. Ok enough of that.
People gave up a lot to go to Mexico. Hard earned money and one of our most precious commodities... Time. Nathan G. gave up walking at his graduation, thanks for the sacrifice. People gave up comfort! Spending the whole first day in the rain was awesome to see. People smashed fingers, got splinters, hurt knees, cuts and scrapes were common. But at the end a cement floor and stucco walls means one more family is safer because of the sacrifice. God is pleased.
Thanks to Chelsea ask someone who was on the trip and thanks to our cooks and organizers. Blessings all around.

Mexico Rocks!

Every time I go to Mexico God meets me there. Sometimes it is in simple ways, and in others it is stretching. But just know that God shows up. I will be tired and I will be blessed! They seem to go hand in hand. I think what I love the most now, is watching people go for the first time. To watch the light go on! And know that they will be changed by the experience. I pray that God has His way with us this weekend. Mexico is still the best gift I give myself for my birthday.

I took a test one time that evaluated what makes me who I am! You take the test, then you guess what your score is and then the person giving the test tells you what you score actually is. So the question had to do with how do I like change. When I guessed, I shot high, thinking I knew myself. On a 1 to 100 scale, I gave myself a whopping 67 when it comes to my like of change. My actual score... wait, wait for it... 93. This blew me away. It opened my eyes to so many things. Like I married a woman who would probably score a 14 on the same test. (I will wait for you to stop laughing. No go ahead get it out.) So when you realize that most people would be below the 50 mark, I am a true anomaly! So I like to change things! I like when the chaos ensues! I like upsetting of the apple cart. If any member of InRoads is nervous, thank God right now that we now have Elders. So change has happened in my life, my families life, in the life of InRoads, and more change is coming. So while I would have the grin of that stupid cat in Alice in Wonderland I need to be aware that others are not enjoying what to me is the spice of life. So please know that I am trying to be more aware of the fact that who I am, could maybe make others a little uneasy. For that, know that I will try to leave the apple cart alone whenever possible. But also know that I am who I am, and that comes with what comes with me!

P.S. On the same test on the question about organization I gave myself a 37. (I was really trying to be honest) my actual score... 3! Begin laughing again.
When it hits you what both of those scores mean when they are put together... well I will try to carry a box of tissues.

The Next Step

In God's word He says that His word is a lamp unto our feet. I love that idea! It makes you feel secure that as long as you don't over walk the lamp then you will know where the next step is. So... what happens when His word does not illuminate you next step. Are we free to take whatever steps we want? I have thought a lot about this. Because is so want not just a lamp of what is before, but I want to see His footprints so I can walk in them.
Do we really get the idea of a lamp unto our feet? I know that I am in a good place. I am not walking next to a cliff or something that will hurt me. I am free to walk forward. Where I am, is not a bad place and yet I want more! I want micro steps. Why can I not be okay that His word will illuminate my steps when I am walking off the path. May I rest in that he gives me the ability to walk forward in Him. May I not over walk His lamp, but may I always keep moving forward.

If you did not hear I became real sick on Sunday nite. I was trying to finish the message knowing that something was about to be real wrong in my body. Anyway, you do not need the gory details although... um never mind. I am blown away by this place, 85 degrees and then snow. This place is so weird.
Ok. I feel that there is something new coming with the spring. I can not put my finger on it. I know that it is sometimes painful for the spring to come! But it is glorious when it is in full bloom. So I am not waiting for some things, and others I have no choice. I hope to see the small buds that are just peeking through in my heart to open to glorious beauty. I know I have today, and let that be enough. I know that as we come from a time of winter it feels like we our stretching after a long nite of sleep. So stretch and put on a pot of your chosen stimulant and look outside. A flower just peeked through the snow.

They call this a spring storm. So I look to the new life of spring that is hiding under the white. There is a sermon illustration there, but for now I just watch it snow. Wow, I need a jolt cola, circa 1983.

Coming Home?

It is very weird to come to your home knowing that your new goal is to make this home your old home. We drove in on Tuesday afternoon and the place already feels different. Man what a weird place. I know that where I am is weird. I know that I had no leaning, and I know that my last post might have given an impression of a leaning. It is not the case. I guess where I am is that I did not get the emphatic answer that I was looking for. It is odd to feel like both are equal answers and yet be upset that you did not see a clear winner on either. So you do what you are supposed to, but at the end of the day, we would all like to feel that there is a crystal clear calling.
Forgive me for wanting more from God than He even promises.

Dazed and Confused!

Ok, here is the thing, I have had not leading in this process. I love InRoads with all my heart. To be back and be their Pastor is an amazing honor. To see the vision and the direction God gave me for Colorado completed would have been truly a blessing and humbling experience. So in the last six weeks we have wanted God to lead. I have had no leaning, and my wife has had no leaning. It is a pain in the butt, to think of packing up and bring all out stuff back. That is just life. I just wanted an emphatic direction from God. I do NOT want to leave a mission field untilled. I do not want to be back when there could be more to do. I do not want to overstay my welcome. I do not want to miss the miracle by five minutes. So this date comes! And we dutifully do what we told the church we would do. I am relieved and confused. I know that it is laughable to think that because 4 men said that by this date... blah, blah, blah. He is God for pete sake. He will do what He will do! So here we set. We have and answer! Please forgive me that I feel like there is a great big * next to it. Ok, no more I am going to go back and kick a squirrel!
P.S. Squirrels are picking fast!

Ok I thought about what everyone should have on their computers. For those of you who have not come over from the PC world all of theses will work for you as well. Good luck.
1. Skype -- Free calls computer to computer. Cheap calls to everyone else.
2. Itunes -- There is no easier way to get free podcasts. Come on.
3. Quicktime -- Probably not the best, but it works.
4. Firefox -- I am sorry if you use IE. Please stop the madness.
5. Google Earth -- It is just cool.
6. VLC -- when quicktime just wont do.
7. Foxit Reader -- Tell Adobe Reader no thank you!
8. Audacity -- If you do anything with music.... GET IT!
9. Gmail account -- It is free and is better than the rest! No more yahoo, aol, or hotmail please.
10. Igoogle -- Make it your home page, with one look you are up to date. You need to set it up though.
11. Blogger -- Also known as blogspot. Just the best free blog service out there.
12. Google Reader -- All you want to know in one place.
13. Google Calendar -- What you are doing where ever you are.

When God Speaks...

I guess you better listen. In 2006 I started a project that I kept up with for quite a while. In all the craziness of the last year I let it go. When Jodi and I chose a church to attend this last Sunday, I, the pastor, did not expect God to meet me there. Funny how that is. In the message a passage from Ezekiel was quoted, God laid on my heart to pick up my project. When I got home, I was blown away to find that the passage that was quoted was 3 verse away from where I had stopped. The passage speaks of God giving us a new Heart. (LET IT BE SO) Amen. It is awesome when God meets you. It is even better when it is on His terms. Keep listening.
P.S. When I got done posting this, I noticed that the next section of Ezekiel is talking about the valley of Dry Bones. I wonder if there is anything in there for me to see.

Waiting On God

Waiting stinks. well most of the time. If you have something to do while you wait, then well you have something to do. We all dread the waiting room at the doctors office. We all hate the place with the burnt coffee at the tire repair shop. We tell ourselves we have someplace better to be. I watch many young boys at school rush through their work, thinking something has to be better than this, just to have to sit quietly while everyone finishes. (Torture) So here we are as a Church waiting. As the one whose family is most effected by this on a purely personal and physical plane this is hard. I think there is something that I could be doing, better than this. And God seems to be taking his time changing the tires. Did He go on break. Does He have my tires in stock. AHHH. The magazines seem old, and I want to be on the road. The funny part is I am not sure that where I am going is better than where I am. Huh. So..... If you have any good magazines articles.....

I was walking through Wal-Mart and and was passing through the baby section. Can I just say that it was a little overwhelming. I am picking 39 years old. This baby thing is for the young and dumb. No offense I was once there. It is just that as you get older, you know and feel how hard this baby thing is. When you are young it just happens to you and that seems to be okay. As you get older, it does not just happen. You have to plan for it and around it. I will try to act younger in my head! Maybe that will help. Ouch, charlie horse... This is going to be a long 18 years.

Feeling Like I Am Waiting For A Bus

In this place we are now in, you get a lot of time to think. And what it feels like is that I am waiting for a bus. I don't know if you have been there, but here is what I mean. You know that the bus will be there. Some time. Hopefully soon. Anyway there is nothing you can do. You do not want to get caught up into something that you would have to stop mid stream, or you do not want to go get a twinkie in the chance you could miss the bus. So you look around and try to be cool. You know that the bus has a route. You are not going to change that route. You can just get on and get off. So here I am at the bus stop. It just is not what you want. The bus stop does not get you anywhere. But you have to be there if you do want to get anywhere. So there you go. You try not read the graffiti and you try not to make those around you nervous by humming show tunes. That is where I am. So if you want to find me. Look for the guy in the wrinkled shirt who keeps looking down the street like that somehow makes the bus come quicker.
